The Ministry of Education (MoE) held the 9th Steering Committee Meeting of Asian International Mobility for Students (AIMS) Programme at Balai Khazanah Islam Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah yesterday. The meeting is being held for two days until today in a hybrid format.
Permanent Secretary (Higher Education) at the MoE Dr Haji Azman bin Ahmad was the guest of honour.
The event began with a welcoming remark from Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Centre for Higher Education and Development (SEAMEO RIHED) Centre Director Assistant Professor Dr Romyen Kosaikanont as the chair of the programme’s steering committee meeting and proceeded with an opening remark by the guest of honour.
Among the aims of the steering committee meeting were to focus on the roles and functions as well as technical and pertinent issues to enhance the development of the AIMS Programme, as well as efforts to make AIMS future forward, including innovative mobility in line with Southeast Asia-Europe (SEA-Europe) Mobility for Sustainable Development, exploring alternatives modes of mobility and advancing AIMS research. The meeting also includes sharing of AIMS and its processes to support the regional harmonisation, as well as systems and processes for internationalisation. The discussions and outcomes of this meeting are expected to help develop AIMS resources and information. The meeting was attended by participating AIMS programme member countries including Brunei, the Philippines, Cambodia, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, Singapore and Thailand.
The meeting is co-organised by the Department of Higher Education at the MoE and the SEAMEO RIHED Centre.
