Meeting focuses on climate change, biodiversity

The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports as the National Secretariat for the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC) hosted the 4th Ad-Hoc Working Group Meeting to Develop the ASCC Post-2025 Strategic Plan from May 28-29 at The Empire Brunei with discussions including ASEAN Centre for Climate Change, ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity and Asian Partnership for the Development of Human Resources in Rural Asia.

The Ad-Hoc Working Group Meeting was established in February during the Senior Officials Committee for the ASCC (SOCA) Retreat to discuss and develop the draft of the post-2025 strategic plan to be submitted to the ASEAN heads of state and government next year.

Permanent Secretary (Community) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Hajah Nor Ashikin binti Haji Johari led the Brunei delegation.

Laos Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism Planning and International Cooperation Department Deputy Director-General Khamphou Phiasackha and Malaysia Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Undersecretary Dr Christina Yeo co-chaired the meeting attended by ASEAN Deputy Secretary-General for ASCC Ekkaphab Phanthavong and ASEAN member states representatives. – Adib Noor
