Meeting boosts Brunei-Timor-Leste bilateral ties

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam attended a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister of Timor-Leste Taur Matan Ruak, in which both leaders emphasised the importance of education cooperation between Brunei Darussalam and Timor-Leste, including scholarship programmes.

The prime minister also expressed pleasure on the signing of the Air Services Agreement between both countries, which is vital in promoting tourism. In addition, His Majesty extended an invitation to the President of Timor-Leste to visit Brunei Darussalam.

Diplomatic relations between Brunei Darussalam and Timor-Leste were established on May 20, 2002, in which both countries mainly cooperate in the areas of education and training, as well as air services.

Accompanying His Majesty was His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen.
