Medical conference concludes with prizes

The Brunei Medical, Dental and Allied Health Students’ Conference concluded with a prize presentation for poster and oral competitions at Pantai Jerudong Specialist Centre on Sunday.

Dr Hein Minn Tun secured first place in the poster competition with ‘Navigating the ASEAN’s Artificial Intelligence Governance for Healthcare’.

The second and third place went to ‘Platinum Hydrogen Supplement Attenuates Non Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease Induced By a High Sugar and Fat Diet in C57BL/6 Mice’ by Audry Kok and ‘Rational Discovery of Monkeypox Virus NDA Polymerase Inhibitors’ by Jasmin Kong.

For the oral presentation competition, first place went to Dr Nur Insyirah Sahali with her presentation ‘The Prevalence of Imposter Phenomenon amongst undergraduate Nursing and Midwifery Students from the Articulate Programmes: A Cross-Sectional Descriptive Study’.

The second and third place went to the presentation ‘The Impact of Preoperative Indeterminate Lung Nodules in the Surgical Management of Pancreatic Duetal Adenoeareinoma’ by Aelly Rashidah Boey binti Mohammad Aeizlan Boey and ‘Characteristic and One Year Management and Outcome of patients with heart failure with reduce ejection fracture at the Heart Failure Clinic of RIPAS Hospital’ by Muhammad Zamir Zahran Burhan. Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar presented prizes to the participants.

Brunei Medical Students’ Association (BMSA) President Nukman Salimin applauded the success of last year’s inaugural conference and highlighted the theme of this year’s event, ‘Empowering Future Healthcare Leaders: Education, Collaboration, and Advocacy’.

The conference aimed to enhance medical knowledge and skills, provide a platform for students’ research presentations, and support the Brunei Vision 2035 goal of creating highly skilled citizens.  – James Kon
