The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) Inter-House Futsal Championship 2023 organised by the ministry through the Language and Literature Bureau (DBP) officially kicked off at the Multi-Purpose Hall of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex last weekend.
Permanent Secretary (Sports) at the MCYS Pengiran Mohd Amirrizal bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud attended the competition’s launching ceremony.
DBP Acting Director Suip bin Haji Abdul Wahab in his opening remarks said, “The DBP has the opportunity to organise the futsal championship this year with a focus on finding potential players to succeed the team to represent the MCYS in inter-ministry tournaments.”
He continued, “Alhamdulillah, during the 29th Civil Service Day Futsal Championship last year, the MCYS finished runners-up in the veteran category.”
Two categories – open and veteran – will be contested in the competition. Five house teams including Bukit Putar, Arap Gegati, Sukma Indera, Silubang Bangsi, and Liputan Madu will compete for medals. The competition will continue tomorrow. – Fadhil Yunus
