Citizens and residents nationwide gathered on the streets as part of the assembly and procession in marking the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) on Monday.
In the Belait District, the parade was held at the Municipal Field, where 2,420 participants spread across 33 groups participated.
The Minister of Development Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Muhammad Juanda bin Haji Abdul Rashid attended the procession. He was accompanied by the Legislative Council (LegCo) members Yang Berhormat Haji Mohd Salleh bin Haji Othman and Yang Berhormat Mohammad bin Abdullah @ Lim Swee Ann, as well as Acting Belait District Officer Haji Amirol Hafidzin bin Haji Muhammad, Penghulu Mukim and Village Heads from across the Belait District.
The parade started with the recital of Sayyidul Istighfar and Surah Al-Fatihah led by Mosque Affairs Officer at the STKRJ Lorong Tiga Selatan Seria Mosque Mohammad Fakhri bin Haji Ibrahim.
A special tazkirah titled ‘Memelihara Akal Berpandukan Sunnah Rasulullah Shallallahu ‘Alaihi Wasallam’ was then delivered by the Prisons Department’s assistant counsellor Fariszal bin Ali.
To celebrate the occasion, a Tausyeh performance was held by students from the Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Religious School followed by Dikir Marhaban led by Takmir Committee members from mosques across the Belait District.
The recital of Doa Selamat and Selawat for three times was then delivered by Mohammad Fakhri, which then kicked off the procession where the participants led by the Minister walked across the scenic Belait Town along the 1.6km assigned route.
Meanwhile, a Maulidur Rasul assembly was also held at the nearby Kuala Belait Conference Hall where the spouse of the Minister of Development Dayang Fadzlin binti Haji Hashim attended as the guest of honour.
More than 600 Muslimah attended the event which started with the recital of Sayyidul Istighfar and Surah Al-Fatihah led by an Officer from the Belait District Islamic Studies Department Hajah Siti Faridah @ Nurhani binti Haji Ahmad.
During the event, the same tazkirah was also delivered by the Religious Development Officer at the Islamiah Da’wah Centre Dayang Siti Syuhaidah binti Haji Mohd Yusoff.
This was followed by a poem recitation titled ‘Tarbiah Rasulullah’ led by teachers from the Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar Secondary School, and the Dikir Marhaban performance by members from the Belait District Branch of Women’s Institute (WI) Group.
The assembly concluded with the handing of tokens of appreciation to the participating presenter of the tazkirah and participants of the poem recitation, followed by the recital of Doa Selamat by Hajah Siti Faridah @ Nurhani. – DANIEL LIM
