The Brunei Institute of Leadership and Islamic Finance (BILIF) recently celebrated its 15th anniversary with a special event themed ‘Mastery in Motion’ highlighting the institute’s dedication to excellence and its significant contribution to human capital development in Islamic finance and leadership.
The event commenced with welcoming remarks by Acting Chief Executive Officer of BILIF Haji Afero Eswandy Mohamad who reflected on the institute’s 15-year journey, shared its vision for the future and highlighted new programmes addressing emerging trends such as artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, and data analytics.
Managing Director of Brunei Darussalam Central Bank (BDCB) and Chairperson of the BILIF Board of Directors Hajah Rashidah binti Haji Sabtu, representing the guest of honour Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy (Economy) and Chairman of the BDCB Board of Directors Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Khairuddin bin Haji Abdul Hamid, emphasised BILIF’s transformative role in professional growth and industry innovation, which has gained international recognition. A special video showcasing BILIF’s accomplishments over the past 15 years was followed by the premiere of the institute’s new corporate video.
The event also featured a panel discussion titled ‘Mastery in Motion: Importance of Continuous Learning and the Role of Centres of Excellence’, with thought leaders from BDCB, the Ateneo-BAP Institute of Banking, and Universiti Brunei Darussalam exploring the significance of continuous learning in driving industry progress.
Outstanding organisations were recognised with awards, including the BILIF Esteemed Supporter Award (Stakeholder) presented to BDCB, and the BILIF Esteemed Supporter Award (Non-Stakeholder) awarded to Takaful Brunei Darussalam.
The BILIF Distinguished Supporter Award went to Employee Trust Fund (TAP), while UBD received the BILIF Key Industry-Academia Experience Award.
Members of BILIF’s Board of Directors, senior officers from BDCB, representatives from financial institutions, and various government and private agencies attended the event held at Setia Point, Berakas. – Lyna Mohamad
