The Royal Customs and Excise Department’s (RCED) Law Enforcement Division uncovered a large haul of contraband in its operation targetting Jalan Singa Menteri, Kuala Belait recently.
Some 10,974 cartons of cigarettes, 10,368 cans and 46 bottles of alcohol were found alongside BND207, SDG379 and MYR6,651 in cash.
A 26-year-old man was detained for possession of the contraband.
Six vehicles and a mobile phone believe to be used for smuggling activities were also seized as evidence.
RCED reminded the public that the possession of contraband is an offence under Section 146 of the Excise Order 2006.
