YANGON (XINHUA) – Myanmar authorities have seized 1.2 million stimulant tablets in Mandalay region, said a release by the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC) on Sunday.
The seized drugs are worth about USD857,142, the release said. Acting on a tip-off, the combined team searched a vehicle on January 7 in Pyin Oo Lwin township and confiscated the drugs.
A suspect who conveyed drugs in the vehicle was charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law. Investigation is underway to reveal the related suspects, the CCDAC said.
Similarly, 17.6 kilogrammes of heroin was seized on January 9 in Chanmyathazi township of Mandalay, the CCDAC said earlier.
