Marking one year of enhanced learning

International School Brunei (ISB) Seria is commemorating its first anniversary since relocating to the new campus in F19 Seria on January 13, 2021.

The Seria Campus was revamped to provide an ideal environment for project-based learning and enquiry learning. The campus has larger classrooms with designated reading spaces, outdoor learning for painting and construction, and a large playground area and playing field for the primary students.

Since the move, students in ISB Seria have access to enhanced curriculum in specialist subjects such as physical education, modern foreign languages (Mandarin and Malay) and music. Students at Seria now follow the same curriculum and have the same opportunities and experiences as their Bandar Seri Begawan (BSB) peers.

The new campus is benefitting of ISB and continues to serve the growing need for an internationally accredited school within the Belait community.

ISB Head of Primary Michael Everett said, “I am delighted to be celebrating this important milestone with the ISB Seria community. I am looking forward to nurturing even stronger bonds between the two ISB campuses, located in BSB and Seria. As a whole, ISB continues to go from strength to strength and truly ensures ‘Everyone Excels.’”

The Seria school currently catering to 160 students from as young as two years to Year 6 students who can then graduate to secondary at the BSB campus, where boarding is also available.

ISB had a restructure in the primary department and introduced Rick Smith as the new head of ISB Seria. Everett and Smith will work collaboratively to deliver high standard of education to students in both campuses.

“ISB Seria has grown from strength to strength over a very short time and I thank Yynda Thomas for her leadership before me. I am delighted to now be working alongside the talented pupils, dedicated teachers, and supportive parents to further enhance the school’s academic, creative, and sporting prowess. I am certain the local community will be seeing a great deal of ISB Seria’s achievements over the coming year,” said Smith.

ISB recently began its second term of the 2021/2022 Academic Year. In line with the guidelines provided by the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the Ministry of Education (MoE), ISB Seria currently operates as a virtual school, apart from children in kindergarten who are allowed onto campus. A full curriculum is maintained during virtual school at ISB and the learning journey continues uninterrupted.

Executive Principal of ISB Tony Macfadyen on behalf of the school, extended his gratitude to the Belait community for their support in helping with the progress of the Seria Campus.
