Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) celebrated its 30th anniversary by unveiling the BIBD 30th Anniversary Commemorative Gallery at Brunei Energy Hub Dermaga Diraja in the capital yesterday.
Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah officiated the event as Chairman of BIBD.
The gallery showcased the bank’s milestones, from the launch of Islamic Bank of Brunei Berhad (IBB) by His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam on January 13, 1993 to the merger of IBB with Islamic Development Bank of Brunei (IDBB) into BIBD in 2005 and other developments in the present day.
The minister thanked His Majesty for the leadership and guidance over the years as well as BIBD clients for their support and bank employees for the milestone.
Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew also pledged to invest in the bank’s employees, information technology systems and the processes as well as contribute to the society and develop the country’s economy.
The event saw the attendance of BIBD’s Shariah Advisory Body, Board of Directors, management and staff as well as almost 60 employees with over 30 years of service at the bank.
The gallery, featuring interactive and educational activities, is open to the public.
