Local die-hard fans of English Premier League (EPL) footballing giants Liverpool Football Club (FC) and Manchester United FC were handed a treat as iconic legends from each club came to town yesterday.

Liverpool’s John Arne Riise and Manchester United star striker Teddy Sheringham met dozens of ecstatic fans during an event at the PGGMB building in Bandar Seri Begawan.

Fans had their replica jerseys signed and took photos with the Premier League heroes.

The event was organised by Top Bins Events in partnership with World Football Legends and powered by Brunei Shell Marketing Company Sdn Bhd.

The legends are scheduled to conduct a two-day football camp today and tomorrow at the FABD Artificial Football Field in Berakas.

The training camp will offer young football enthusiasts a rare opportunity to develop new football skills, understanding of the game, teamwork and social skills.

Riise, who enjoyed Champions League glory with the Merseyside outfit, famously wrote his name in Anfield folklore following his thunderbolt during a 3-1 triumph Manchester United in the 2001-2002 season.

Meanwhile, Sheringham, a member of the 1998-1999 treble-winning season, scored the equaliser during United’s infamous 2-1 win over Bayern Munich in the Champions League final. – Fadhil Yunus
