The Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation (JASTRe) issued a BND300 compound fine on a man on Tuesday for disposing trash at a public premise at Kampong Batu Marang.
The individual, who the department identified as Roniadiwan bin Tajuddin, was caught on CCTV tossing trash into the public premise.
The fine was issued under Section 12(1) Chapter 30 of the Miscellaneous Offences Act.
The man is given seven days to settle the fine, and failure to do so will result in the case being brought to court.
If found guilty, a further fine of no less than BND1,000 and no more than BND3,000 will be handed, while subsequent offences will see a penalty of no less than BND3,000 and no more than BND9,000 fine or imprisonment of no less than six months.
JASTRe reminded the public and companies to ensure the cleanliness of the surrounding environment is maintained.
