A 50-year-old man on trial for outraging the modesty of a six-year-old girl took a turn as he pleaded guilty and was convicted in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
Asahrin bin Idris had a change of heart as prosecutor Atiyyah Abas was in the midst of producing her fourth witness.
Senior Magistrate Pengiran Hazirah binti Pengiran Haji Mohd Yusof heard from the prosecution that the defendant was in the living room of a house in Delima when he called for the victim on the evening of October 25, 2020.
They talked when the defendant suddenly leaned over the victim and fondled her.
He then gave her a pencil to distract her from the incident and walked away.
The victim told her grandfather of the incident which led to a police report and the defendant’s arrest. The court is considering punishment in the meantime and has yet to fix a date to hand down sentence.
The defendant is facing a five years’ jail, with a fine for penalty.
