Man kills stranger, claims he is ‘infuriated by world’

(ANN/THE KOREA HERALD) – A man in his 30s, charged with fatally stabbing an unknown individual on Monday, claimed he acted out of stress from being targeted by con artists.

On Monday, the Seocheon Police Station in South Chungcheong Province announced the arrest of a suspect charged with the murder of a woman in her 40s in Seocheon-gun during the early morning hours.

The deceased was discovered at approximately 3:45 a.m. On Monday, shortly before midnight, her family submitted a missing person’s report to the police.

Investigators believe the suspect and the victim were not acquainted at all. He had been roaming around the area, and attacked the victim when he ran into her.

“I’ve recently lost a lot of money because of a scam. I suffered from so much stress, and it was hard because the world didn’t seem to help me,” the suspect told police, admitting to stabbing the victim to death.

Investigators suspect that the individual intended to target a victim arbitrarily and are contemplating requesting the release of the suspect’s personal details.

The authorities may release the face, name, and age of a suspect if they are charged with specific violent offenses — including murder, insurrection, terrorism and sex crimes — pending consent from a deliberation committee linked to the police departments of each area.
