ANN/THE STAR – A drunken brawl between a group of foreign workers in Johor Baru led to the death of a man.

Seri Alam OCPD Superintendent Mohd Sohaimi Ishak said police received public information about a fight involving foreigners at a shophouse in Taman Desa Cemerlang near Ulu Tiram at 11.14pm on Sunday.

“Based on such information, police immediately went to the scene and made eight arrests, including a female, at 11.45pm. The suspects were aged between 22 and 51,” he said yesterday.

Superintendent Mohd Sohaimi added that police also seized three liquor bottles, two blood-stained shirts and two blood-stained pants, a bed sheet and a face mask at the scene.

He said the initial investigation found that several suspects were intoxicated, which then led to the brawl.

“During the fight, a 32-year-old male died after being stabbed with a sharp object on his left chest while another 31-year-old male victim received cuts on his right arm.

“The deceased and the other victim have been sent to Sultan Ismail Hospital for a postmortem and medical treatment respectively,” he said, adding that all suspects were being remanded until April 6 to help with the investigation.
