A local man, his wife and four foreign women were detained by the Gambling Suppression and Anti-Vice Unit for alleged prostitution activities.
According to the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF), authorities carried out raids in three different locations, one at lodgings in Gadong, another at the male suspect’s workplace and the last at a house owned by the male suspect.
The female suspects believed to be involved in prostitution are aged between 22 and 27 while the male, aged 32, is believed to be the bapa ayam (pimp), said the RBPF.
Evidence uncovered include condoms, lubricant and cash. The male suspect’s wife, a foreigner, was also detained for further investigation.
All suspects and evidence were brought back to the Criminal Investigation Department.
The RBPF said the case is being investigated under Chapter 22, Section 294A of the Criminal Procedure Code and Chapter 120 of the Women and Girls Protection Act. – James Kon
