Prosecutors yesterday levelled a holding charge against a 40-year-old man for allegedly smuggling in 519.89 grammes of cannabis from Miri on New Year’s Day.
At 7.17pm, authorities at Sungai Tujoh Control Post in Belait District detained Pengiran Md Aisamuddin bin Pengiran Md Daud after discovering the drug in his vehicle during a routine inspection.
The charge, albeit holding, carries a death penalty. The court is currently awaiting investigations, including analysis works, to be completed.
Acting Senior Magistrate Dewi Norlelawati binti Haji Abdul Hamid has ordered Pengiran Md Aisamuddin remanded, and adjourned the case to January 31.
