The Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation (JASTRe) issued an individual with a BND500 compound fine yesterday for disposing trash at an open field near Meragang Beach.
Mohd Irwan bin Omar was caught littering on CCTV, which is a violation under Section 12(1)(f)(ii), Chapter 30 of the Miscellaneous Offences Act.
He has been given seven days to settle the fine. Failure to do so will result in the case being brought to court.
If found guilty, a further fine of no less than BND1,000 and no more than BND3,000 will be handed, while subsequent offences will see a penalty of no less than BND3,000 and no more than BND9,000 fine or imprisonment of no less than six months.
