XINHUA – Malaysia’s manufacturing sector sales expanded by 4.5 per cent year-on-year, and amounted to MYR161.9 billion (USD36.03 billion) in November 2024, official data showed yesterday.
The expansion was driven by a double-digit increase of 12.3 per cent in the food and beverages sub-sector and enhanced by 7.1 per cent rise in the electrical and electronics products sub-sector, the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) said in a statement.
On a month-on-month basis, the sales value increased by 0.3 per cent from MYR161.4 billion registered in October 2024.
The sales value of export-oriented industries which account for 71.5 per cent of total manufacturing sales rose by 5.6 per cent during the month.
Throughout the first 11 months this year, the sales value of the manufacturing sector amounted to MYR1.73 trillion, an increase of 4.5 per cent as compared to the same period of 2023.
