Malaysian premier arrives for first official visit

Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri bin Yaakob, his spouse Datin Sri Muhaini binti Zainal Abidin and delegation arrived in Bandar Seri Begawan yesterday evening for a two-day official visit, marking his official visit as the Malaysian premier since the appointment on August 21, 2021.

Present at Brunei International Airport (BIA) to welcome the Malaysian prime minister and his spouse on arrival were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), as Personal Representative of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam; and Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Also present to welcome the visitors were Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof as Minister-in-Attendance and his spouse.

Also in attendance at the BIA were Minister of Foreign Affairs II Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd Yusof; Minister of Development Dato Seri Setia Ir Awang Haji Suhaimi bin Haji Gafar and spouse; Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy (Economy) Dato Seri Paduka Dr Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin and spouse; Deputy Minister of Education Datin Seri Paduka Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh; and High Commissioner of Malaysia to Brunei Darussalam Dato’ Raja Reza bin Raja Zaib Shah.

On arrival, the Malaysian Prime Minister inspected the guard of honour mounted by members of the Royal Brunei Land Force (RBLF), Royal Brunei Armed aForces (RBAF).

Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri was then introduced to the Cabinet Ministers; deputy ministers; commissioner of the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) and spouse; commander of the RBAF and spouse; foreign envoys in Brunei Darussalam with spouses; and permanent secretaries at the PMO and Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) with spouses.

The Malaysian delegation includes Minister of Federal Territories Dato’ Seri Dr Shahidan bin Kasim and Minister of Foreign Affairs Dato’ Sri Saifuddin bin Abdullah.

During the official visit, the Malaysian prime minister, his spouse and the delegation are expected to have an audience with His Majesty and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam at Istana Nurul Iman today.
