Malaysian PM in Brunei today for first official visit

Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri bin Yaakob will be visiting Brunei Darussalam today for the first time since assuming office in April, to discuss post-COVID-19 cooperation, according to Bernama.

In the statement made by Wisma Putra, the two-day trip will include talks on the proposed establishment of the Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) arrangement by air, cooperation on health diplomacy, and promotion of closer economic cooperation.

The statement added that the prime minister will be accompanied by his wife Datin Sri Muhaini binti Zainal Abidin, Foreign Minister Dato’ Sri Saifuddin Abdullah, Senior Works Minister Dato’ Sri Fadillah Yusof, Federal Territories Minister Dato’ Seri Dr Shahidan Kassim and senior government officials, reported Bernama.

Wisma Putra said the visit would be conducted in full compliance with the strict health and safety protocols.
