BERNAMA – The Terengganu Immigration Department arrested 14 illegal immigrants in an operation codenamed ‘Op Sapu dan Kutip’ at six construction sites in Hulu Terengganu, Malaysia on Thursday.
Department director Mohd Yusri Mohd Nor said 12 of them were Bangladesh nationals, one Myanmar and one Pakistani national, all aged between 24 and 54.
All of them were picked up for not having valid travel documents and work permits or overstaying, he added.
“During the raids at the six locations, some attempted to flee upon realising the presence of enforcement officers but failed as the area had been cordoned off.
“They were sent to the Ajil Immigration Depot for further action,” he said when contacted yesterday.
