Malaysian globetrotter shares experience

Malaysian High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam Dato’ Raja Reza bin Raja Zaib Shah hosted a lunch for visiting Malaysian musician Jeshurun Vincent yesterday at a restaurant in Kiulap.

The 35-year-old with hearing impairement is on a globetrotting journey that began in Myanmar in August 2014. He has visited 132 countries thus far.

Jeshurun, listed under Malaysian Book of Records for travelling to the most countries as an individual, shared his travel experience at the event, such as visiting war-torn Syria and Somalia, facing language barriers, difficulty obtaining visa and detention at airports by immigration officers.

The envoy praised Jeshurun’s resoluteness and perseverance despite his hearing impairment, as well as his determination to travel via backpacking and expressed belief that his journey to inspire through music and spread the message of hope would make a difference in people’s lives. Jeshurun left the Sultanate yesterday to continue his journey to cover all 193 United Nations member countries in the next three to four years. – Lyna Mohamad
