Malaysia king in hospital after experiencing leg pain

CNA – Malaysian King Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has been hospitalised for treatment for his leg yesterday.

A statement released by Comptroller of the Royal Household of Istana Negara, Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin said the king was experiencing pain in his leg, but his overall health was good, and there was no cause for worry.

However, due to the king’s hospitalisation, programmes involving him scheduled for yesterday and in the near future had been postponed to later dates, said the statement.

“His Majesty is scheduled to return to recuperate at the Istana Negara in the near future once treatment is completed,” added Ahmad Fadil.

Earlier in January 2022, the king had been warded for a few days at the royal ward of Malaysia’s National Heart Institute (IJN), for a health check-up and follow-up treatment.

This was related to an intervention treatment for the king’s knee and ankle joints received in September 2021 at the same health facility.
