Large sections of the Sultanate experienced a significant power outage since 11:30am on Tuesday, leading to disruptions in the daily lives of residents.
The Bulletin has confirmed reports of power cuts in various areas, including Mukim Gadong, Mukim Serasa, Mukim Mentiri, and Mukim Berakas in the Brunei-Muara District. Additionally, large areas in the Belait, Tutong, and Temburong Districts have also been affected.
The power outage has resulted in widespread disruption, affecting commercial buildings, offices, and businesses. Reports have emerged of individuals being stranded in elevators within commercial buildings. Furthermore, the Bulletin observed that traffic lights in the Mukim Gadong area have malfunctioned, causing traffic congestion and confusion.
Some educational institutions have been compelled to cancel classes and exams due to the ongoing power outage, according to concerned parents and guardians.
The Department of Electrical Services (DES) is actively investigating the cause of this incident.
In a related development, parts of the Belait District experienced a separate power outage lasting nearly 2 hours last evening.
