The public is invited to check out the first ever Local Product Expo 2022 at Bridex International Conference Centre Hall 1 and 2 in Jerudong, following its official launch yesterday.
Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister of Home Affairs Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman and Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin officiated the launch.
Held in conjunction with the 6th Brunei December Festival, the expo features 211 companies ranging from One Village, One Product (1K1P) food and products, agricultural and agrifood products; business, banking and finance; construction and interior design; downstream products and services; to fashion and clothing; as well as fisheries and fish processing, among others.
The four-day event is organised by the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT) in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance and Economy (MoFE), Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) and Darussalam Enterprise (DARe).
Permanent Secretary at the MPRT Hajah Tutiaty binti Haji Abdul Wahab said the expo aims to further promote and expand the market of local products, while at the same time, raising public awareness on the available products and services offered by local entrepreneurs and companies.
The expo also provides entrepreneurs the opportunity to generate income, build network and conduct business matching. She added, “During the expo, several briefings on topics such as seizing business opportunities, careers, branding and marketing, as well as entrepreneurship focussing on the export market.
“Additionally, fun-filled family activities will also be held. In view of the year-end school holidays, the hotel and local tourism service providers have prepared attractive school holiday packages for December 2022.”
The Brunei December Festival also provides opportunity to unearth local youth talents in expressing their creativity through organising various beneficial events and activities.
The festival is also expected to stimulate economic activity, generate income and employment among the youth, and at the same time increase the number of international tourist arrivals through the availability of attractive packages and events,” she said. Skating, quizzes, face painting, eating contests, product demonstrations and other engaging activities will also be featured at the event.
The Local Product Expo – supported by Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD), Datastream Digital Sdn Bhd (DST), Brunei Methanol Company Sdn Bhd (BMC), Royal Brunei Culinary (RBC) and bruneihalalfoods – runs until December 4, from 9am to 9pm.
