Luminox takes flight with new pilot’s watch

Luminox is the official watch partner for the American Aerospace engineering juggernaut, Lockheed Martin. Through this partnership, Luminox has taken inspiration from and designed a new timepiece based on one of the most revolutionary airplanes of its time: the infamous CONSTELLATION®.

Fondly nicknamed, ‘Connie’, the plane was a gamechanger for both civil and military aviation, setting flight time records including the quickest flight from Burbank, California to Washington, District of Columbia in 1944 in just under seven hours at an average speed of roughly 533 kilometres per hour. The combination of high performance and design are what made this aircraft a legend in the industry, and is now an inspiration for Luminox’s newest addition to the Air Series.

The CONSTELLATION® Automatic 9600 is available in four different variations with a 42-mm stainless steel case and elegant 3D case back. The range of dial colours include black with beige indicators, grey with beige indicators, or beige with black. As for the dial, the illustration of the world globe and the CONSTELLATION® airplane makes this timepiece stand out.

In the tradition of classical pilot’s watches, a triangle with two dots is placed at 12 o’clock to provide time at a quick glance. The Swiss made Automatic movement provides precision timing with a date indicator at three o’clock with 38-hour power reserve when fully wound.

The black bi-rotational bezel can act as a second time zone while the screw in crown helps to provide up to 100 metres water resistance to complete the piece. As with every other Luminox timepiece, it incorporates Luminox Light technology, making sure that the timepiece is visible in any light conditions for up to 25 years.

The Connie, an airplane that is loved and fondly remembered to this day comes back to flight with Luminox’ latest timepiece, The CONSTELLATION® Automatic.
