Looking after senior citizens well-being

Volunteers from the Lions Club of Belait visited the Seria Old Folks Home to conduct a sight testing and health screening programme yesterday after a two year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Lions Club of Belait’s programme helps ensure that the elderly’s well-being, as well as their sight, are cared for.

The club’s President Keith Wong and Vice President Phyllis Jong took part in the programme with other club members and retired nurse Connie Leong.

The health screening included a check on blood pressure, blood sugar levels, body-mass index, and oxygen levels.

District Chairperson for Sight Preservation Awareness and Action (Brunei Darussalam, Sabah, WP Labuan) Joseph Teo, also conducted sight testing and the prescribing of eyeglasses. The prescription eyeglasses were sponsored by VisionCare, Kuala Belait.

At the end of the programme, lunch was served to the elderly. provided by Peter KK Chan.

The programme highlights the importance of maintaining health and sight, especially for the elderly.
