The Indian Association of Belait (IAB) will celebrate its 75th anniversary soon.
A function at the India House on Thursday saw the High Commissioner of India to Brunei Darussalam Alok Amitabh Dimri launch the Diamond Jubilee celebration by unveiling the logo for the association’s milestone.
The celebration will take place on November 17 at Pusat Insani Hall in Seria, which will also coincide with the annual Deepavali festivities, a flagship event for the IAB over the years. Community members have begun preparations for dance performances.
During the occasion, IAB president Salimo and its vice president Renjit Gopalakrishnan, presented the logo to the high commissioner, who unveiled it to officially commence the celebrations. Attendees included members of the Indian community and heads of various Indian associations from both the Brunei-Muara and Belait districts.
This year’s celebrations also align with the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Brunei, commemorated by the visit of Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to Brunei.
