Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA), through the Faculty of Agriculture (FoA) recently organised a workshop on fish feed formulation in conjunction with the 13th UNISSA Mahrajan Hafl Al-Takharruj.
The workshop aimed to assist the aquaculture farmers and the fish industry in the Sultanate in reducing the costs of importing fish feeds from abroad. UNISSA’s FoA senior professor Dr Mohammad Bodrul Munir conducted the workshop and demonstrated to the Bruneian aquaculture entrepreneurs and stakeholders how to formulate fish feed using local feed ingredients.
The fish feed will help maintain the price of fish at an affordable level, provide employment, business opportunities for micro-enterprises and entrepreneurs in rural areas to venture into fish farming as well as become suppliers for raw feed ingredients.
The Biogenic Fish Feed has the potential to be commercially produced regionally.
