Members of the Kelab Sukan Sumpit Lun Tau (KSSLT) from Temburong District grabbed podium finish in the blowpipe competition held at the recent Aco Lun Bawang Festival.
The event at Lawas Indoor Stadium was organised by the Sarawak Lun Bawang Association and attracted 85 participants aged as young as seven to 76 competing in the blowpipe competition.
The participants were from the Lun Bawang Tribe in the Malaysian states of Sarawak and Sabah, Kalimantan and Brunei Darussalam.
KSSLT sent 18 participants to the tournament. This is the first time that KSSLT was invited to participate in the competition since the club was established on September 19, 2023. In the blowpipe competition, nine participants from KSSLT qualified into the final of various categories where four managed to obtain podium finishes.
Ernawati Pengiran took second place in the female’s individual 50 feet category while Ali Sitom won first place in the male individual 60 feet category.
Devid Pengiran finished third in the same category. Devid managed to grab third place in the male individual 70 feet category and also emerged as the champion for the male individual 90 feet category.
Meanwhile Yakub bin Batong won the veteran individual 35 feet category. – James Kon
