Local teacher receives prestigious Thai education award

A teacher from Pengiran Kesuma Negara Primary School, Kampong Bukit Beruang was awarded the Princess Maha Chakri Award (PMCA) yesterday. Mohammad Amir Irwan bin Haji Moksin received the PMCA 2023 award in a ceremony at the Centara Grand and Bangkok Convention Centre in Thailand.

The biennial award, honouring Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand, recognised individuals at the international level for contributions in the field of education and advancing people’s quality of life, especially among the region’s most disadvantaged groups.

Yesterday, the Thai Embassy in Brunei Darussalam held a live screening of the award ceremony in Thailand.

Thai Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Boosara Kanchanalai was at the event. Meanwhile, Permanent Secretary (Core Education) at the Ministry of Education Dr Shamsiah Zuraini Kenchanawati binti Haji Tajuddin viewed the ceremony online. – Rokiah Mahmud
