Three students made the country proud at the 14th ASEAN+3 Student Camp for the Gifted in Science and the 16th ASEAN+3 Teacher Workshop for the Gifted in Science in Seoul, South Korea recently.
Nur Syahindah binti Sopian won a bronze medal in the cross-country group presentation.
Meanwhile, Muhd Iqbaluddin bin Muhd Sihamuddin and Nur Insyirah binti Johari received the Exemplary Pre-Camp Activities Award for the Physics track: Building Detectors for Natural Disasters such as Earthquakes using micro:bit and the Chemistry track: Future Scientist fighting acid rain.
The programme, organised by ASEAN+3 Student Camp for the Gifted in Science with Ministry of Science and ICT of South Korea and the Korea Foundation for Science and Creativity (KOSAC), ran from December 15-21 at Seoul National University of Education.
Themed ‘From Prediction to Protection: The Role of Science in Responding to Natural Disasters’, the programme is aimed at gathering gifted and talented students and educators in science and technology.
It provided a platform for collaboration and showcased skills in a challenging environment.
The programme was attended by 102 students from the ASEAN+3 countries.
Before the camp, the students participated in pre-camp research activities guided by experts from Universiti Brunei Darussalam’s Faculty of Science. Their participation was coordinated by the Ministry of Education through the Centre for the Development of Gifted and Talented Education (EDGE). – James Kon
