With Chinese New Year falling on Saturday, local singer Pei Pei has come up with a new song, Good Luck to send greetings to the local Chinese community. The music video also went viral on social media.
“The song was actually written and produced a few years ago during COVID-19. This year, we managed to come up with the music video,” Pei Pei said.
“The song is a mash up of many popular Chinese New Year songs with upbeat music. It took some three days to complete. I did the music and lyrics, while the music video was produced by a videographer and my assistant. I would like to thank James Lee and his wife Tina who have been very supportive of my songs.”
Pei Pei’s music video also features several iconic places in the Sultanate including the Teng Yun Temple, Kampong Ayer, Taman Mahkota Jubli Emas and Brunei’s green nature.
She hopes to send a music video to China’s Guangxi Cloud Media Group next year to participate in the Spring Festival Embracing the World China ASEAN Network Spring Festival Gala event 2025.
“The event gathers ASEAN communities to participate in a high tech audiovisual art programme by sharing music videos,” Pei Pei added.
Featuring local attractions in her music video, Pei Pei said, “I hope to promote Brunei by participating in the event.
“I also hope to produce a Chinese New Year song every year to promote the local music industry and send Chinese New Year greetings.” – James Kon
