Magistrate Abdul ‘Azim bin Othman yesterday handed a three years’ jail with five whipping sentence to Mas Fadilah bin Pungut for possessing an offensive weapon in public and stabbing another man.
Mas Fadilah pleaded guilty to carrying the knife and stabbing ‘Si Jebon’ in the chest at a flat in Kampong Belimbing Subok on December 13.
Prosecutor Kamal Ariffin bin Ismail earlier revealed that at 4.40pm that day, the defendant went to the flat where his mother lived when he heard ‘Si Jebon’ shouting at children playing football in the open space below the flat.
When asked why he was shouting, ‘Si Jebon’ said he wanted to tell the kids off as he was afraid they might break the windows.
The victim also brought up the fact that he had warned the kids three days earlier.
The defendant then realised that his son was among the scolded.
He then told the victim not to be angry for something that happened days ago.
Both got into a heated argument leading the defendant taking out a flip knife, followed by a brief chase and scuffle before the victim was stabbed in the chest.
Another person in the area broke up the fight causing the defendant to leave the vicinity in his car.
The victim filed a police report, leading to the defendant’s arrest. – Fadley Faisal
