Fifteen powerboat racers from the Powerboat Association of Brunei Darussalam (PBLBD) were handed the national flag in a ceremony at the Menara Cendera Kenangan, Kuala Belait, ahead of their participation in the Pesta Kanowit 2023.
The race, on September 23 and 24, will see powerboat racers from across the region competing in eight categories along the Rajang River at Kanowit, Sarawak, with the contingent from Brunei competing in two categories, 60SST and 30Hp category.
Acting Head of the Youth and Sports Department in the Belait District Branch Gaung Jamit handed over the national flag to head contingent and PBLBD Secretariat General Hajah Siti Aisah binti Haji Abdul Jalil. The contingent will leave for Kanowit tomorrow.
The group will also be competing in a similar international powerboat race next month as part of the Bintangor Festival. – Daniel Lim
