Local pleads guilty to trespassing into hospital

A local man pleaded guilty yesterday to trespassing into Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital to cause annoyance and commit mischief by damaging property.

Mohammad Salahuddin bin Haji Marjik, 43, however denied a charge of committing criminal intimidation by pointing a sharp metal rod at a woman at a rest house on November 11.

Judge Radin Safiee bin Radin Mas Basiuni at the Intermediate Court fixed December 5 to hand down sentence and December 12 to set trial dates for the intimidation charge.

Prosecutor Ahmad Firdaus bin Mohammad revealed that the defendant spent the night at the hospital surau and woke up on November 22.

He then went to look for cigarettes when he came across an unlocked door to a room, entered it and took a partially smoked cigarette from an ashtray.

On his way out, he saw an LED spotlight which he broke to acquire the LED.

He went back to the surau where he was detained by security personnel.

A maintenance worker discovered the room was broken into and reported to the head of security.

A party searched for the defendant and found him at the surau, leading to a police report and the defendant’s arrest. – Fadley Faisal
