Local peacekeeper’s mother honoured

The Bangladesh High Commission in Brunei Darussalam commemorated International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers at the high commission yesterday where local peacekeeper Sergeant Adibah Farah binti Ali Hasan’s mother Hajah Siti Sharphina binti Abdullah was honoured.

Hajah Siti Sharphina said she was honoured to be invited in recognition of her daughter’s deployment in Lebanon under the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL). Hajah Siti Sharphina said Sergeant Adibah Farah left Brunei on October 10, 2023 and will return after the one-year mission.

Hajah Siti Sharphina said she prays her daughter and the Brunei contingent will be successful and be protected by Allah the Almighty while carrying out their duties.

Bangladesh High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam Nahida Rahman Shumona recalled the words of Bangladesh Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman: “Peace is absolutely necessary to protect the existence of humanity.” She also shared Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s vision of global peace. – Lyna Mohamad
