A local man has been sentenced to six years and six months’ jail on being convicted of cheating and forgery.
Zaini bin Haji Mirasan was found guilty after a trial on charges of cheating and Indian national by convincing the victim that he could assist in an application for a permanent resident status, prompting the victim to pay just below BND30,000.
The defendant also forged documents in the process to convince the victim in his cheating acts.
