Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) collaborated with the Faculty of Islamic Development Management (FPPI) to organise the International Conference on Philosophy, Civilization, Ethics and Islamic Heritage (i-STET) 2024 at the Main Lecture Hall of the Faculty of Quran and Sunnah Studies at Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) recently.
Themed ‘Sustaining Turath, Upholding Philosophy, Advancing Civilisation, and Immersing in Culture’, the seminar provided an opportunity for the presentation and exchange of knowledge across various disciplines, particularly in social sciences. Fields discussed included philosophy, ethics, humanities, Islamic heritage (turath), religion, Islamic sciences, language, psychology, politics, sociology, anthropology, history, civilisation, ethnic and cultural studies, as well as media and communication. The conference was officially opened by Negeri Sembilan State Executive Councillor for Education and Human Capital Development Dato’ Haji Ismail bin Haji Lasim, representing the Menteri Besar of Negeri Sembilan. Participants included academics, industry professionals, and university students from both local and international institutions.
The seminar saw the participation of over 180 presenters and attendees, with USIM also inviting scholars from Malaysia, Indonesia and UNISSA, including FPPI Dean at UNISSA Associate Professor Dr Anis Malik Thoha, who delivered the keynote address and was also part of a forum on Adat Perpatih.
In conjunction with i-STET 2024, FPPI also conducted a study visit to the Core Studies Centre at USIM and the Academy of International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). The visit aimed to discuss further collaboration opportunities in academic areas such as research, teaching, learning and student and academic staff exchanges.
The delegation led by Dr Anis Malik Thoha, included PM Dr Adel M Abdulaziz Al Geriani, Dr Ahamad Faosiy Ogunbado, Dr Hussain Othman, Dr Suleiman Muhammed Hussein Boayo and Dr Nurefnazahani binti Haji Durani. – Fadley Faisal
