The Brunei Darussalam National Judo Federation (BDNJF) Interclub Tournament 2024 concluded with a prize presentation ceremony at the Sports School Brunei Darussalam yesterday.
Amir Ahmad claimed the gold medal in the over-100-kilogramme (kg) category, while Faris Zaini and Adam Aduka secured gold medals in the under-81kg and under-66kg categories.
The final rounds of the two-hour tournament were intense, with competitors battling for gold and bronze medals. The final match between Adam and Zahir Sulaiman was particularly exciting, requiring a golden score to determine the winner. In the over-100kg category, Amir defeated Danish Mohammadin to clinch the gold medal, while Faris Zaini overcame Khairil Adnani to secure the gold in the under-81kg category. Danish and Khairil settled for silver medals in their respective categories.
Nuraiman Rezal and Thaqif Sukirman completed the podium in the over-100kg and under-81kg categories. Awangku Faris took the bronze medal in the under-66kg category.
A total of 10 participants competed across the three categories, including Alfonso Cayden.
Before the tournament began, judo practitioners gathered for a briefing and had their toenails and fingernails inspected by officials.
President of the BDNJF Muhammad Ali Rashid bin Haji Mohammad Alipah presented prizes to the winners. – Fadhil Yunus
