Local fitness teams flexed their muscles in the regional stage after securing a one-two podium finish in the open category of the widely-popular Pandora’s Box 2023 at the District 13 Gym in Malaysia recently.
DNF comprising seasoned fitness athlete Darren Chai, Wai Zhi Foong and Jeanne Ong won gold with PJ’s Party’s Shaun Lim, Jon Ooi and Pei Xin taking silver in the CrossFit-inspired contest.
Malaysia’s Fee Fi Fo Fum settled for third place.
Twenty-four teams from around the region split vied for top honours in the open category during the two-day competition in Petaling Jaya.
Each team was required to perform three events- flutter, sparkle, and dash – each of which consisted a set of workouts during the group stage.
The event was organised by x45 Fitness, a Malaysia-based physical fitness programme.
During the preliminary round, DNF was drawn in Group ‘C’ alongside Team Hangrier, Kamvas and Kid N Man while PJ’s Party had Team Complaining Mira, Leprechauns, and WOD 4 Carbs for company in Group ‘A’.
As a winner in the open category, DNF has also been awarded a free entry to The Fitness Team 2023, a competition at the Vermosa Sports Hub in Cavite, Philippines in early December. – Fadhil Yunus
