Local duo pleads guilty to theft

Muhammad Aiman bin Morni, 26, and Mohd Saiful Rizal bin Bujang, 36, pleaded guilty to charges of housebreaking for theft yesterday.

Judge Pengiran Masni binti Pengiran Haji Bahar fixed May 27 for sentencing.

According to Prosecutors Radin Wafri bin Radin Sufri and Kamal Ariffin bin Ismail, the defendant Mohd Saiful Rizal along with two accomplices, conspired to break into a residence in Kuala Belait on May 2.

The group broke into the house through a window and stole various items before fleeing.

On the night of May 3, the group again hatched a plan to commit housebreaking and theft at the same residence.

Although their initial attempt was thwarted due to concerns raised by an individual known as person A, the defendants persisted and carried out their plan later that evening.

They broke into the house and pilfered a number of items. The incident was discovered the following morning, prompting a police report and investigations.

Despite police efforts, not all stolen items were recovered.

Both defendants reportedly admitted to their roles in these criminal activities during police interrogations.

Both defendants hold similar criminal records. Their past convictions include offences related to theft, housebreaking, and receiving stolen property.
