Two local men were sentenced to jail by the Magistrate’s Court recently following their guilty pleas to charges of theft.
Magistrate Nur Eleana binti DSP Haji Hairol Arni handed a 30 months’ jail term to 28-year-old Mohammad Asmadi bin Busrah and 28-year-old Khairulsazwan bin Kadir, an 18-months’ jail sentence.
Prosecutor Abdul Musawwir bin Haji Awang Mahli revealed in court on November 7 that Mohammad Asmadi stole a parked vehicle at a shop in Kampong Tanjung Bunut, between August 30 and 31.
A second charge showed that the defendant alone drove the vehicle, loaded with tools and machines from a residence in Jalan Pasir Berakas during the wee hours of September 4.
The duo then stole another vehicle from Melabau Complex in the late hours between September 23 and 24.
The victims filed police reports leading to the duo’s arrest. The court handed Mohammad Asmadi a heavier sentence to reflect the number of charges against him, as well as his previous conviction of auto theft. – Fadley Faisal
