Local strength athletes Abdul Malik Almukkaramah bin Haji Mohd Yusof and Khairunnadya binti Sannay did the nation proud after winning top place in their respective categories during the Iron Titan Show in Thailand recently.
Abdul Malik Almukkaramah bagged gold in the Men’s Under-67.5 kilogrammes (kg) category while his compatriot Khairunnadya emerged winner in the Women’s Under-52kg category. Both were also placed second overall.
During the push and pull event, Abdul Malik Almukkaramah recorded a score of 145kg in bench press and 300kg in deadlift while Khairunnadya posted a score of 65kg in bench press and 145kg in deadlift.
Both athletes are also physical trainers from Vertics Gym.
The meet attracted a total of 29 participants from countries such as India, Canada, the United States, Thailand and the Philippines. – Fadhil Yunus
