Brunei Darussalam darts team D’Amazing KBT Kupipiks emerged champions in the team event at the WINMAU Sabah Masters 2024 held at Likas Square in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah recently.
The newly-crowned winners led by team captain Pengiran Mohamed bin Pengiran Haji Matarsad comprised Mohd Hairul Azman bin Haji Bujang, Abang Qahar Ukail bin Haji Shamsul Ariffin, Mohd Saiful Rizal bin Mohd Ridzwan and Mohd Aqil Izham bin Abdul Rahim.
The local representatives clinched the coveted title after defeating OMG Sumpit from hosts Sabah 8-3 in the final and brought home a cash prize of MYR10,000.
Eight teams represented the country including two teams from D’Amazing KBT, two teams from KGA Koi Fish, two teams from Spin Top, The Shield and KGA Mix.
The competition contested various categories including the team event, doubles open and ladies’ singles.
Meanwhile, Brunei’s D Amazing KBT Miracle Destroyer claimed third place in the men’s doubles open which was won by Tommy Hardware C with Vintage Narapak A finishing as runners-up.
In the ladies singles event, Zarina emerged victorious with Nur Aliya taking the runners-up spot.
OMG Dart Club Manager Alhernz Liaw presented prizes to the winners.
Organised by FIDO Darts Sabah, the WINMAU Sabah Masters saw the participation of 74 teams and 126 doubles’ teams as well as 49 entrants in the ladies singles event.
The next stop for the local darters will be the PDC Asian Tour Singles Open 2024, which will be held in Pulau Pinang, Malaysia on May 18 and 19. – Fadhil Yunus
