Local dancers win medals in Singapore

Young dancers from Studio Elevé did the country proud after collecting three gold, six silver and five bronze medals at the International Youth Dance Competition (IYDC) in Singapore from August 9 to 10.

Fourteen students from Studio Elevé joined several categories in the competition.

Shin So You and Ekamjot Agliam Singh finished with gold medal for level one lyrical/contemporary while Shin, Singh and Jamica Aying claimed gold in level one freestyle category. Studio Elevé’s third gold came from Eunice Cheng in level two lyrical/contemporary solo category.

Rafeliya and Chloe Law each won silver in level one ballet solo while Simran Agliam Singh earned bronze.

Eunice Cheng and Kyla Aniss Khalidkhan won silver in level two ballet solo while Jamielee Goh took bronze.

Zara Lim and Nicole Zoey Lim won bronzes in level three ballet solo.

Elva Ong secured a silver in level three freestyle solo while Zara Lim, Kyla and Cheng won silver. Jamielee Goh, Ava Jeanne Ho Yia Xuann and Olivia Chua Yu En came in third place.

IYDC saw around 500 participants from Brunei, China, India, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand competing in ballet, contemporary, jazz, and lyrical dance.

Apart from competing, attendees also learnt from renowned dance educators and had cultural exchanges. – James Kon
