Local Customs officers join passenger security training

Officials from the Royal Customs and Excise Department (RCED) and Immigration and National Registration Department (INRD) participated in a half-day training session on passenger assessment, impostor detection, document security features and fraud detection recently.

The session facilitated by non-resident Liaison Officer to Brunei from Canada’s Border Services Agency (CBSA) Jérôme Halluin was joined by 100 participants including local agencies and Royal Brunei Airlines personnel. The training session also included Canada’s entry requirements and samples of the new Canadian passport unveiled in May. The new passport features several security features including a red maple leaf that disappears when heated.

“Canada has provided trainings to many Bruneian officers and we are pleased to continue our collaboration on border services training. We hope that our officials can continue to benefit from the exchange of expertise. Canada’s extensive experience in border services has been developed over decades of screening hundreds of thousands of arrivals across dozens of ports of entry per day,” said High Commissioner of Canada to Brunei Darussalam Ambra Dickie. – Lyna Mohamad
