Nine local workers were found without the National Retirement Scheme (SPK) accounts during an operation on 35 business premises at Sunway Centre area.
The operation aimed to ensure employers registered their employees with the agency and contributed to the retirement scheme.
According to the Employees Trust Fund (TAP), employers who fail to abide by the regulation could be fined up to BND3,000 for the first offence and up to BND10,000 for second and subsequent offences.
The registration and payment of employee contributions can be made using TAP’s online service through e-Amanah.
“Employers can log into their e-Amanah portal accounts through the TAP’s official website,” TAP said in a statement. TAP also reminded employers that citizens and permanent residents of Brunei Darussalam employees must be registered with and contribute to SPK, including temporary workers, daily paid workers and workers on probation. – Rokiah Mahmud
